Duurzame RAI op WeMakeThe.City

RAI Amsterdam is tijdens WeMakeThe.City bijna een festival op zich. Er vinden veel ontwikkelingen plaats die er voor moeten zorgen dat het, in de woorden van CEO Paul Riemens, een gebied wordt ‘waar het tof is aanwezig te zijn.’ Vanaf donderdag 21 juni wordt dat op verschillende manieren getoond.

Riemens is donderdag bij de conferentie ‘How to design, finance, build and operate the circular city’, over hoe de RAI bezig is met duurzaamheid, en op vrijdag vertelt hij op de Gebiedsmeetup #6: Zuidas, meer over uitdagingen en oplossingen voor de ingewikkelde logistiek in het gebied. De RAI wil de komende jaren zijn logistiek flink op de schop nemen, met tunnels naar de hallen en het overbodig maken van het parkeerterrein, dat een stadsplein moet worden.

Tijdens het Rooftop Symposium gaat het over het vergroenen van de RAI, met de presentatie van de plannen voor het tweede groene dak. En in de buurt van de RAI is er een bijzondere, duurzame stadswandeling in samenwerking met Renewi, onder leiding van gidsen en studenten met kennis van innovatie en duurzaamheid. En in het weekend is er ook een speciale basketbal clinic, in samenwerking met Apollo Basketball – mensen kunnen een uur lekker ballen, onder het toeziend oog van professionele spelers. 

Fundament for a Safe and Sound Digital City

In this workshop, we will discuss what is needed for a safe, capable and available environment for the collection and transportation of data, without violating people’s right for privacy AND giving a guarantee for a good and swift transport of data without unneeded latency.

We will examine the examples of Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Tilburg (rules of conduct) and the Amsterdam-approach with the crossover-cooperation in regard to creating the new digital infrastructure public space Amsterdam (DI020).

Trust Framework

Digitisation has made it possible for services, products and approaches to be better tailored to people’s personal circumstances and needs. But if you allow data, objects and devices of persons and entities to work together in a digital society, you need independent guarantees for trust in digital solutions. With an independent trust infrastructure, for example around the house and IoT objects, data owners and providers of customised data-driven services are both facilitated to share data and objects responsibly.

In this breakout session, organised by NGI.eu & DI020 Programme, the preconditions and governance of digital trust, the various building blocks (such as identification, attribution, permissions, authentication, registers, verifiability, traceability and target binding) and the present implementation are shared for discussion.

Lees de stad bij Athenaeum

Athenaeum Boekhandel & Nieuwscentrum is mediapartner van WeMakeThe.City. Tijdens en voor het festival staan de boeken over stedelijke vraagstukken in de schijnwerpers. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan ‘Van wie is de stad?’ van Floor Milikowski, een boek dat gaat over de machtsverhoudingen in Amsterdam. Wat is de rol van de internationale vastgoedmiljarden? Voor wie is er geen plek meer in de stad? Wie verdient er aan de miljoenen bezoekers? En wat kunnen burgers zelf nog doen en inbrengen? Milikowski neemt je mee op haar zoektocht naar de winnaars en verliezers en stelt zichzelf de vraag: van wie is de stad?

Ook het nieuwe boek van Gordon Douglas “The Help-Yourself City is er inmiddels. Hij onderzoekt hierin wat er gebeurt als burgers de inrichting van de stad in eigen hand nemen. Douglas spreekt op twee Urban Conferences: Co-Creating the City op donderdag 21 juni en tijdens Making Places op vrijdag 22 juni.

Voor en tijdens het festival is de etalage van Athenaeum Nieuwscentrum helemaal ‘We Make –The-City’ en de afdeling urban development is ook omgedoopt!
