Najah Aouaki (Amsterdam) is an economist and urban strategist who strives for an inclusive city. Where urban development and the market threaten inclusiveness, Najah develops strategies and concepts to create opportunities and opportunities for those who are at risk of being excluded. For example, it has allowed the Java Quarter to retain its diverse character by allowing existing entrepreneurs to grow along with the changing target group around them. Najah is currently working on the economic exploration and strategy of the ‘Ontwikkelbuurt’ Venserpolder (Southeast) and is involved as a consultant in the development of Centrum Nieuwe West (Amsterdam). Hear Najah speak at the breakout session ‘Spatial Segregation in the Diverse City’ on 18 June.
