Karen Den Hertog
Karen has been with the Amsterdam Healthy Weight Programme from the start (2012). She has had several responsibilities, e.g. the ‘curative’ part of the programme (the practice established there is now being scaled throughout the Netherlands), the ‘First 1000 Days’ and (inter)national affairs. Karen is a member of the Management Team of the Amsterdam Public Health Service.
Over the past ten years Karen (Msc Public Administration) has been managing various programmes, focused on complex problems in the social domain, for the municipality of Amsterdam. The common denominator always was shaping a whole systems approach with various departments, districts and external partners, with everyone taking his own responsibility.
Besides her work for the Amsterdam programme, Karen is also responsible for the ‘Reducing Health Inequalities’ stream of the national Social Domain Programme. This offers a learning community to municipalities and national government to guide the Dutch transformation of the social domain.
