Duco Stuurman
As Municipal Director Duco Stuurman manages the Social Services domain in Amsterdam (one of the four domains in the municipal organization). Social Services contains a wide array of subjects, among which: Public Health Service, Income Support, Sports and Recreation and Education, Youth and Welfare Services. It supports, partly through partners in the city, hundred thousands inhabitants of Amsterdam. Big challenges for the municipality are: how to avoid social dichotomy and increase equal opportunities and how to facilitate the fast growth of the city . In order to provide an even better service to the inhabitants of Amsterdam, Social Services is currently in the midst of thoroughly improving the social system.
