Amartey (Amsterdam) is a Ghanaian-Dutch artist, creating music on the crossroads of afropop, reggae and soul. He always praises his Ghanaian roots, as he does with the place he was born and raised in: Amsterdam Southeast. In his music you will hear him declaring his love and respect for the black woman, by which he wishes to inspire and empower all young black females to love their natural selves. In 2015, Amartey won the talent show SuperSongDay on FunX Radio and his track ‘Nobody like you’ was appointed FunX Best. After sharing the stage with one of his favourite artists Bisa Kdei and releasing ‘Time to Remember’ in 2016, the year 2017 was an even better year. Amartey signed with the popular booking agency Missin’Link and released ‘We Can Do’, together with British artist Morgan and producers Team Salut, as well as his first EP ‘YVNG BOY FROM THE STREETS’. In the beginning of 2018, he performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag, made his debut on national television at ‘De Wereld Draait Door’ and he headlined two concerts in De Melkweg, Amsterdam. On 21 June, you can see him perform during New Amsterdam Night.
