Mike Brantjes

Mike Brantjes is active as a person, neighborhood- and area developer in one of the most varied neighborhoods in the Netherlands, the Kbuurt (K-neighborhood) in Amsterdam Southeast. A neighborhood with many disadvantages, challenges, divisions.

At the beginning of 2018 a participation strike was declared by the residents because of the top-down design and implementation of the municipality’s participation trajectory. As a result, at the end of 2018, the participation process was designed by the residents themselves (for the first time in a development neighborhood). This happened within a collaboration between the municipality of Amsterdam, Stichting! WOON and the residents’ collective Hart voor de Kbuurt.
