Marleen Stikker
As the ‘mayor’ of the Digital City Marleen Stikker developed the first free entrance to and virtual community on the internet, in 1993. In 1994 she co-founded Waag, a research institute for creative technology and social innovation. Waag focuses on public research in which society is the research field. A good example of research started at Waag is the search for the first fair smartphone, which was further developed by the company Fairphone. Marleen will speak at the urban conference Cities for Digital Rights (in Dutch) and the metropolitan conference Getting Around Smart.
