Ger Baron is the first Chief Technology Officer of the Municipality of Amsterdam. This means Baron is responsible for the innovation in this city. In other words; Baron has to make sure that new technologies will be used in a smart way to find solutions for problems in the city. He speaks at the Metropolitan Conference Getting Around Smart on Tuesday the 18th of June.
Since 2014 Baron deals with subjects like mobility, connectivity or problems with parked bikes. Sometimes rules have to be changed and different stakeholders have to come together to achieve success in these fields. Baron finds different ways to achieve this. During his time at the Municipality of Amsterdam, he wants to make sure there’s an Amsterdam-app for everything residents of Amsterdam need the government for. He also wants to make clear what the government does and doesn’t do, and to make sure that the government can react quicker to subjects that residents deal with in their daily lives.
