Floris Alkemade

As Chief Government Architect of the Netherlands, Floris Alkemade is responsible for the architectural quality of our government buildings. He also advises the government on architecture, urban design, and landscape. Floris van Alkemade is a speaker at the Urban Conference Architecture of Hope on Tuesday, June 18.

One of Alkemade’s responsibilities is to organise competitions on a national level, addressing social issues such as: ‘A Home away from Home’ regarding refugee housing, ‘Who Cares’ about care and housing, and ‘Bread & Games’, on rural renewal. He was one of the six partners of OMA: the Office for Metropolitan Architecture. He currently has two architectural firms FAA and BAU +, operating in the Netherlands and France.
